Entrecard Contest Update and Extension

Posted by Amir Lehrer on September 3, 2008

On August 11th I announced a contest  to celebrate my 99th and 100th posts.  I posted that I would give out the bigger prizes only if I had over 50 entries which I didn’t have but I decided that the people who entered the contest put in the effort so I’ll award some of the prizes anyway.

The following blogs are 100 Entrecard winners:

http://roscontest.com

http://giveawaycity.blogspot.com

http://iluvcontest.blogspot.com

If you missed the contest, don’t worry, because you’re not too late.  I am extending the contest for another month or 2 and will award some more prizes.  As an added bonus, I will give a 125×125 advertising block on my site for a month to the person who writes the best article on their blog about luck.  My whole blog is about increasing your luck so browse around for some ideas.  If there are multiple great articles, I may decide to give a few advertising blocks away.

Good Luck!

Get Lucky Huge (4000) Entrecard Give-Away

Posted by Amir Lehrer on August 11, 2008

This is my 99th post and I’m really excited about reaching the big 100 as it’s a huge step for me.  One year ago I didn’t even know what a blog was and now, not only did I build my own blog but I am reaching 100 posts with a nice readership.  Because of this I want to celebrate by increasing my readership even more and having an Entrecard give-away.

Here is the gist of the give-away:

I will be giving out:

At least 10 Entrecards to the first 100 participants.

100 Entrecards to a random 10 participants.

500 Entrecards to 2 participants with the best Luck related articles linking to me.

1000 Entrecards for 1 random participant.

I will write a post with the winners of the 100, 500 and 1000 Entrecard prizes with links to your sites.

The random winners will probably be chosen by someone else such as my wife or kids to prevent any biases unless I find a better way such as using random.org .

Here is how to enter:

Subscribe to my rss feed.

Write a post on your blog and link it to any of my articles.

Leave a comment on any of my articles (something meaningful).

Share my 100th article (39 Ways to Increase Your Luck, coming tomorrow) with your favorite Social Bookmarking site (StumbleUpon, Digg, etc…)

Then email me at luckortunity at gmail dot com to let me know that you’re done.

This contest will end on September 1st and I hope to post the results and give out the prizes soon after that.  Just one last note, I will only give out the 1000 Entrecard top prize if I there are 100 participants in the contest and the 100 Entrecards prizes if there are at least 50 participants.

Why Participate in Entrecard’s Contests

Posted by Amir Lehrer on July 17, 2008

For all of you Entracard holders out there, you must already know that Entrecard has partnered up with SezWho to create a better, more interactive experience for bloggers.  To build momentum for this partnership, they launched a contest which they hope will get a lot of their members to start publicizing the 2 sides and also start interacting more with each other.  The Contest has members blog about the partnership, twitter it and comment on other blogs about it.  My first thought was “wow, it’s amazing how they can get so many people to give them free advertising, free word of mouth and a huge push for a successful partnership”.

After taking a few deep breaths and thinking about it, I realized that although everyone is helping out Entrecard, they are helping us out just as much.  They are causing us to write an extra post, add a twitter and comment on other blogs.  All things that we need to do anyway to build up our communities.  It’s not only a push for us to do these things because we can post, comment and twitter about anything, but by participating in this contest, it opens new doors for all of us.   By taking this opportunity, we are becoming better and more important members of the community which raises our rank and profile.

Thinking about this contest I recognized that the only reason that anyone would join in is because it is providing value to them as well.

Unlucky people will look at the contest for a second and forget about it.  It is the lucky people who see the advantages to joining in and running with new opportunities.  It’s also a little funny that they call it a contest even though everyone can be a winner by following all of the steps.  It’s like kindergarten all over again.

Lessons to take from this:

  1. In the blogosphere, there is no competition, only cooperation.
  2. Companies (like Entrecard) only get ahead by providing value to their consumers.
